So much news! Update Tuesday PM: IF you didnt see Mondays update on the Prayers for Rylie page i will give it to you here. Monday they took Rylie down to surgery to get a tracheotomy and to get a PEG line in for direct feeding to her stomach as well as getting the plastic surgeon in to suture and stitch her facial cuts. Everything went great and now she doesnt have those nasty tubes down her throat. She slept a lot through the afternoon. Last night she moved around quite a bit in bed and was awake a lot with her eyes open. Her heart rate continued to drop and is now at normal levels 60-70 bpm Early this morning I was reading to her and she really seemed to give me a lot of attention with her eyes. The nurse said she seems to respond to male voices more and told me i could ask her to wiggle her toes and give a thumbs up. When I asked her to give me a thumbs up she raised her hand a few inches up and dropped it down again twice. We also saw her wiggle her toes this morning when the Dr. asked! Im pretty sure I got a smile out of her today as well. They weened her off the ventilator today and she is breathing on her own with a trach mask that gives her humidified oxygen. They also brought her down to Tylenol as her only pain med. So no more narcotics! She seems to prefer looking to the right and looks around more than before but we still have not seen her track with her eyes yet. We continue to talk to and encourage her whenever she opens her eyes. After a week of quiet they told us today we could play some music or have the tv on a show that she likes. I think this will also help her figure out days and nights. Physical/Occupational therapy got her up out of bed today and sat her in the chair for two hours. She seemed to do well. Kidneys are working well, bowels are working well. Pretty much whenever she is awake she crosses her good leg over her right and likes to have it elevated. I feel like in the next day or two we will be moving to Madonna rehab facility here in Lincoln. The Dr. said today that we are looking at at least 3 weeks of inpatient rehab at the minimum. This is all very good news. Be in prayer for healing going forward. That Rylie continues to make progress recovering from her brain injury and there are no setbacks physically (infection, heart rate, breathing, pain). Thanks so much for all the love, prayers and support!
