So much of what we consider to be the U.S. government and military - TopicsExpress

So much of what we consider to be the U.S. government and military and intelligence functions are now in the hands of the private sector, explains journalist Glenn Greenwald. Something like 75 percent of the $75-billion-a-year NSA budget is actually money that goes directly into the coffers of private corporations. We hear all this stuff about how everything is so well controlled, there’s transparency, there’s oversight. None of these mechanisms and controls apply to the private sector that really is running the vast bulk of the national security state, which is why Edward Snowden, despite being a private employee of a private corporation, had access to all these vast NSA systems.
