So my adoptive mom just called. We stopped talking before Nabi was born. Anyway, in case anyone thought rehashing the past is a good idea on the phone, Im here to tell you its not. Not sure how to move forward with someone who believes that when I say Im entitled to how I experienced things that means Im calling her a liar. Never called her a liar. I dont know what to do. She was an incredible mom in so many ways! Im much more creative, resourceful, critical, and confident because of how she raised me. Told me make it whenever I wanted something new. Not many moms go off hiking with a saw on their backs, or stop on the side of a highway to climb a tree and pop a (vacant) beehive in the trunk, or drag along a kid whos grounded (me) to break into abandoned houses to look for antiques or dumpster thrift stores to sell on Ebay or put homemade dinner on the table nearly every single night. I recognize all these things. Im still entitled to express my experience, to anyone I want to, and it is also healthy to give boundaries in any given relationship. I want the good and not the bad and thats ok. I hope we can do this moving on thing.
