So, normally I post on this page for Mr. Rhodes, today I am posting for myself. It has been a long and fun campaign trail with 2 months still to go and Im sure things will heat up the closer we get to November 4th. We started on this journey back in February and when I agreed to be Mr. Rhodes campaign manager I did so with the promise to each other that we would run a clean campaign, one that focused on all the good that Mr. Rhodes can bring to the Office of Sheriff of Queen Annes County and not on any negatives for his opponent. I feel that we have done a good job of this, after all we all live in the same county and work in the same county and at the end of the day no one runs for a political office or helps someone run for an office and wants to make enemies! I did want to make a couple points however, today there was a post put up on the Queen Annes County Office of the Sheriff website about some issues in Cloverfields and one comment on the site said and I qoute, I hope the citizens of QAC realize how lucky they are to have a sheriff that uses social media when it comes to elections. The other candidate admits he doesnt use social media and relies on his campaigner to do it for him. Once the campaign is done, then what? That being said, are people really naive enough to think that any Sheriff or Chief of Police continually monitor a facebook or any social media page to post on it? They have people to do that for them. If they were the ones posting all the time I would seriously be concerned with the amount of time on their hands. Mr. Rhodes is a hands on law enforcement officer who works hard and gives his job everything he has at all times, it is what he loves and what he excels at. He is not a politician or a practiced speaker, but when he does speak it comes directly from his mind and heart. He has amazing ideas that when put to practice will boost morale and make the Queen Annes County Sheriffs Department a place where officers will want to seek a job out. Also, I applaud the department for taking a step and adding a canine to their force, a beautiful Belgian Malinois and a capable handler. However, it is excellent timing to suddenly bring a canine back in just before the election, especially given the fact that Mr. Rhodes has openly supported canines on the force through out his campaign. It was even brought up at a local forum by Mr. Rhodes whereas it was never mentioned as a means of drug enforcement by either opponent at that particular forum. One canine is nice, but how useful will one be, will he be available every shift day and night? One is good... more is better! I am just surprised that a canine is now in where it was never a priority before. Again, this is not meant to bash anyone just wanted to bring up some valid points! Thanks! Karen Schinault
