So not only is this song an 80s anthem; it also highlights a terribly interesting moment in music history. These guys were english ala they called themselves the English Beat b4 they became General Public. But they were one of the first bands I could remember that sang in a native english accent. The british invasion started with the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and later Zeppelin etc. However all those bands were so heavily influenced by American Blues that they all sang in American..not english the distinct move by GP to sing with their native accent actually endeared them to the new wavers in the US of the 80s as they were symbolic of the euro faggy trend that was all the rage at least with the kids on the right and left coasts. take a listen and enjoy! youtube/watch?v=nmoHQ2DC3zo
