So one of my Aunts called me today to wish me happy birthday and she told me I want to tell you about where I was when I heard you were born. Then she proceeded to tell me about how she and her family had spent that 4th of July so many years ago. Now a funny story to everyone but me is how at this time my parents lived in KC and I along with my brother and sister were born there. At the time my dad was a public safety officer for the city of Gladstone which was a position where you worked as a fireman so many days had days off and then worked a police officer so many days. Well as his on shift ran through the holiday weekend my mom came home to Stone County for the holiday riding down with her sister. At the time my mom was anticipating giving birth to me sometime around September 1st as that was her projected due date (it goes without saying ultra sounds have came along way since then) My mom says that she spent her time down home just feeling uneasy and could not shake the feeling that she needed to go home, home for now being KC. On Saturday morning she got a ride to Springfield and boarded a Greyhound bus for KC. and on that bus my mom went into labor. Now had she fought her uneasy feelings and stayed put maybe I would have been in September as perhaps the less than smooth riding bus induced her labor, whos to say. But when I was younger my much older cousins, and to this day Holly Stafford Stark would tease me by singing The Allman Brothers Ramblin Man to me, and or inserting my name into the lyrics. But to end the story my mom did make it to the hospital and I was not in spite of popular misconception born on the backseat of a Grey Hound bus Rollin down highway 41 although they would input highway 71. So there is a little ancient history lesson to enjoy.
