So our foster kitten Stripes has had one eye that would get goopy - TopicsExpress

So our foster kitten Stripes has had one eye that would get goopy and water off and on ever since we got him. I tried medicine to clear it up, wiping it with a warm wash cloth, flushing it with saline and cool water, and nothing seemed to be working. Concerned that it seemed to be getting more irritated, I decided to enlist my husbands help to see if we could take a better look in his eye and see if we could see anything. He didnt want to cooperate but after flushing it with a little water again and Brian helping to hold it open, we saw the end of something fairly large beneath the pink soft tissue under his list eyelid. It appeared to be what we thought was a dried piece of goop, but I knew it would irritate his eye more if we couldnt get it out. After some more coaxing we were able to find the end of it again so that I could try and wipe it gently out. I ended up having to grab it and pull it out. It was a foxtail embedded in the pink tissue way below his bottom eyelid! I felt awful I didnt find it earlier. Poor little guy! That must have been so uncomfortable! I am so grateful we finally figured out what the problem was though and were able to get it taken care of! Now at least it should heal up in no time and he will be ready for adoption.
