So sad to see David Brenner passed... When I had the opportunity to interview him, he told me the story of hosting the Tonight Show for the first time...filling in for Johnny Carson... The next day he boarded a bus hoping to get a star recognition ego boost...he got on, paid his fare and walked down the aisle about 3 seats and sat down. A man boarded the bus making eye contact with Brenner, pointed and yelled loudly, Youre Funny!!!! Brenner thanked the man and spent several minutes telling the man how honored he was to fill in for the great JC...and detailed everything about the show the night before. At the next stop, the man got up and walked to the back of the bus stopping at every seat telling every passenger, Youre FUNNY!!! Brenner sighs, I was the only Schmuck that thanked the guy and sat him down to tell him how honored I was!!! A great performer.... RIP
