Elements of the Progressive era are returning in various ways. The hippies had it right with the CO-OP movement. The CSAs and Localized economies are getting more and more prevalent. The Louisville Time Bank is a perfect Example. I met a Federal Labor Lawyer the other day and we discussed organizing in the CSA farm network. Capital ism.... so four farmers buy a combine.. they draw straws to decide who gets to use it and for how long. That is a raw form of Democratic principal in a collective ownership. So my friends who are reddish.. there are many flags.. black and red.. Red and Black.. All black.. ect. ect.. And there is a flag that is red white and blue... The IWW is still around. So you want a political movement.. so be it.. go get it.. and when you get the goods.. the IWW union structure is the structure for you.. just read the constitution.. If you work.. I dont care where.. you need a union.. or a democratic structure that allows you access to power.. such as the bylaws of a co-op... How to Organize in a food CO-OP in 8 steps. 1. Get a copy of the Bylaws. 2.Get a member to put a motion forth to give employees a free membership with employment or a discounted one. (pull on their libral heartstrings) 3. Put a motion on the floor to create a workers committee made up of the co-op employees. 4. Elect a Chair of that committee. (Local Chairman) 5. Get that Workers Committee Chair Elected to the board. 6. Have that Board member elected to the Financial Committee 7. Bam your a union 8. Get a raise or a better discount for employees. 9.
