So some of you have seen these two pics and know the story behind them, but I will tell it again, and will continue to do so every year.... So we went back for the 7th anniversary, I was doing photography at the time and went to this station on purpose. There is a discovery show documentary call 9-11 and it was meant to follow the life of a probationary firefighter in FDNY, but what they ended up getting were the events of 9/11.... This was the house I wanted to go to... Engine 7, Ladder 1 and Battalion 1.... A few blocks from Ground Zero. When we walked up the brothers were out on the apron, with a memorial wreath in front, as you see. I had a FD ball cap on and my big camera... One of the LTs came up asked me if I would take their pic when they were in formation...of course!!!... He than pointed to a guy up on the adjacent bldg, and in a strong NY accent said... climb up dat ladder dare bruda and Bobby will help ya.... So I did... A few minutes later, they came to attention, struck the bell and this is the shot... It was at the exact time Tower 1 was hit. I came down, the same LT grabbed me, asked if we had eaten, and if we could come into the house, we did so... He said follow me, but your wife and daughter have to stay here, but they are safe!!!!... He took me into the basement where all the parts and pieces of their appartaus or bunker gear, whatever was taped off in a memorial type room. This was stuff only for our eyes, not the public as most was blood stained and some worse. He than took me up introduced me to the guys and I looked over and saw Ry in her stroller with a flower in her hand....a brother had removed it from the wreath and had given it to her! More to it, but the picture is one of my most cherished photos and I am honored to have been able to send it to my brothers where it hangs in their day room today!!! 343, lost but not forgotten!! RIP my brothers
