So the 1916 centenary committee is an ‘omnishambles’ according to the Times (England). Article on the Unitedpeople forum: unitedpeople.boards.net/ Who could have seen this happen in Ireland where our government couldnt organise a pee-up in a brewery - and has the bloody cheek to insult people, run wrongly their character into the ground, then refuses to even apologise when they are caught out in the wrong! By the way, if your looking for full news of whats going on in Ireland - read the English times also. A LOT of news that is being kept from the Irish public is being printed there - like this next Article: Enda Kenny, his elected mate, a VERY questionable awarded Irish Water contract and possibly something to akin to strange dealings? One things is FOR SURE - the Irish people are being lied to, back-stabbed and kept in the dark by this government. ============================ Kenny’s ally lets out office to Irish Water IRISH WATER set up its western headquarters in an office rented from a business part-owned by a Fine Gael councillor and key ally of Enda Kenny without a public tendering process. The new state agency moved into the office, on Breaffy Road in Castlebar, Co Mayo, in December after signing a 12-month lease with Malbury, a partnership jointly owned by Cyril Burke, a local Fine Gael councillor and company director. This weekend both Malbury and Irish Water refused to disclose the value of the one-year contract. A local estate agent told The Sunday Times that space similar to that taken by Irish Water would command rent of €25,000-€30,000 per year. Irish Water said it chose the office space because it contained “desks and cabling” but confirmed it was now advertising for office space in Castlebar to suit its medium- to long-term needs. Burke confirmed Malbury had submitted a tender to secure the new lease but declined to disclose any information on the value of the current lease, citing commercial sensitivities. Irish Water also refused to reveal the details of the lease. Burke told The Sunday Times the lease was in line with standard rents charged by landlords in the Castlebar area. “I can’t disclose the figure. There is no way you could describe it as a great deal for us. The building is 9,000 sq ft and they are occupying about 2,000 sq ft,” he said. Burke said Malbury was initially approached by an estate agent in Dublin hired to locate suitable offices for Irish Water in the west of Ireland. He said he believed Irish Water chose to lease his office space, which was vacated by Bord Gais Networks 18 months ago, because it contained desks and was vacant. “They looked at a number of offices but ours was ready to go. So they entered into a short-term lease with us. They have since put an advertisement in The Connaught Telegraph newspaper for new offices, which we have applied for, as others have. “Whether they use us, I don’t know. Irish Water may decide our building is suitable going forward,” Burke said. The councillor is a trusted ally of the taoiseach, who is a TD for Mayo. A former cathaoirleach of Mayo county council, Burke accompanied the taoiseach to Cleveland in America to visit the city’s Irish Cultural Garden in 2012. Burke’s elder brother, Paddy, is the Fine Gael cathaoirleach of the Seanad and another trusted political ally of Kenny. Irish Water said it decided to lease the building on a temporary basis to ensure it had a regional presence in Mayo. “We reviewed five office locations in Castlebar to secure a temporary office, to ensure that Irish Water had a regional presence. We took the decision to lease the office in Breaffy Road, which has 10 desks, because it had previously been fitted out to Bord Gais’s specifications and much of the infrastructure, including the cabling for the IT and communications network, was still in place and as such, the fit-out costs were reduced,” said a spokeswoman. thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/news/ireland/article1364941.ece
