So the Ottawa shooter was a man struggling with poverty and drug addiction(1), who Baird admits may not be connected to ISIS in any way(2). Our government is responding with promises to increase spending on police powers(3), allow detention of suspects who have not committed a crime(4), and decrease our freedom of speech(5). Absolutely nothing has been said about increasing aid for drug addicts nor the homeless. Please keep aware of how your government responds to the events of this last week. The CPC has been trying for years to pass laws like these, and has largely backed down only due to public opposition.
