So, the old NAS drive was running out of space, and could not be upgraded to get more room, it was time to change. So many options, 2 bay, 4 bay? I settled on a 2 bay and saved a couple of hundred $ even with empty bays. What brand? I have a Netgear, has been great, I looked at netgears offerings, nearly went that way too. I decided on a QNAP TS-220, nice bit of gear, put a single 4tb drive in for now, that doubled my immediate capacity, and if I outgrow that, put another 4TB in, and by the time I fill that up, technology will have changed a lot and it will be upgrade time again. Now the slow task of copying everything from the old NAS to the new NAS. Oh for faster transfer speeds...
