So the team has decided to rather than huddle down the river a couple of hours and sleep on the side of the river that they were going to go ahead and discharge the rest of their sleep and then push through all the way to the finish line. Bit of a gamble but they dont want to have to stop and sleep again. Lots of discussion about what to do and how to do it with this discharge sleep now coming back to sort of bite the team in the butt a little bit. I know the preference would have been to powe till the dark zone and sleep alongside the river but this discharge mandatory sleep creates a different scenario for the team. I personally am not a fan and hope they dont have this kind of thing in other races because it has a different variable to try to manage sleep when you should be racing or want to be racing but you have to discharge sleep even if you dont have to or want to. When the race course opens tomorrow morning tecnu will be the first team on the river and the most well rested since they will have been sitting waiting to race for over 14 hours while the race gets to go on ahead of them.
