So the tube situation is solved beyond anything I could have imagined. Everything I had learned about the character of my little Vibro Champ utterly changed for the better. Power amp tube is the JJ 6V6 S while the pre-amp is a Ruby 12ax7acz HG (tested HIGH GAIN JJ ECC83S with a Ruby HG sticker on it) which is the highest gain 12ax7. WOW just WOW!!! Before if the gain was anything below about 2 with the volume set around 2 you couldnt hear the amp, now you can hear it with the gain all the way down. While I was playing today the power amp tube opened up quite nicely about an hour into playing (2 hours total) and by the way it was sounding when all was said and done the pre-amp tube is about burned in as well. Cant wait to get a few more hours on it and see how the tone settles in because as it stands I LOVE IT! Gonna have to learn its sweet spots all over again, but everything about it sounds so much sweeter! Distorted its meaner and clean its cleaner! JJs ROCK!!!
