So theres this new road situation coming to Lake Norman. Some kind of mixed public/private venture that will allow us to get some new lanes quickly. The tradeoff is that they will be toll lanes. The private entity that is involved will be able to recoup its investment (and presumably make a healthy profit) by collecting the tolls...from my understanding for 50 years. So it was reported on news radio this morning (wish I could find a written reference) that at a public meeting last night, a representative of the private entity was unable to alleviate citizens concerns about the rumors that the toll will be quite high. When asked what the toll might be, his response was...seriously...who knows? and Once we get the contract signed we can probably figure it out Wow. I think were in trouble on this one....
