So, these past 24 plus hours, Ive struggled with the term mortality. A friend of mine, Gary DeLong was taken from this world yesterday afternoon in a motorcycle accident on his way back to town from work. As I managed to crawl through this day in a daze, I tried to grasp the idea that I would no longer be talking to him, working with him, discussing politics, or any other activities that remember him for. Im sure my coworkers are also struggling to understand his death. At ATR, regardless of what we think, we are a family. And as a family, as disaster strikes, we turn to each other for comfort. Kevin Pace and John Griffin were able to put into words what I cannot. As a Christian, I know that this life, this world, is not the end. Alas, this does not give me any comfort. So, lacking the words, I dedicate a song to those of us left to grapple with the pain . . . survivors, so to speak.
