So this afternoon they started Blake on his second slug of chemo. - TopicsExpress

So this afternoon they started Blake on his second slug of chemo. Hell get another tomorrow and a third on Sunday. Blake says these are tougher than the first one, but he is coping. The first slug he got earlier in the week was to attack the bone marrow cells that are producing the cancerous cells. This latest three doses are to directly attack and kill off the cancerous cells themselves. You know, Blake was diagnosed with CLL nearly three years ago but as it wasnt requiring treatment it was easy to ignore it, rather like the elephant in the room. This latest incident and complication kicked us in the teeth and gave us clear warning that we ignore it at our peril. We can no longer afford to write off any illness as minor because it can turn major quickly. Still, barring complications, Blake should be coming home on Monday and then continue on outpatient therapy. Right now I dont know how long that will last, but probably until labs determine that he is indeed in remission.
