So this is a thing thats been bothering me for almost 24 hours. Saw an article about how the pro Palestine March in London was anti-Semitic, the thing that bothered me wasnt the content the thing that bothered me was the very nice woman whod posted it asked how can they let them do this? It shouldnt be allowed protests are by nature Not pleasant for some people... It is a protest. To take peoples right to protest away because you dont agree with it is... Well its reminiscent of countries were not fond of or periods of history we dont like. Israel is not a faultless state and if you take away the debate of whether its an occupation or not there are still some serious flaws within the mindset and political landscape of Israel. The knowledge that they have built the worlds largest internment camp for unwanted refugees is terrifying enough. I dont like how Russia is run and I protest it but am never called a racist but if I dislike Israeli policies on war and refugees Im suddenly akin to a Nazi. Its not right. As a Glaswegian I am proud of my right to protest, this city is built on the backs of people who risked life and limb to stand up against social injustices.
