So this is not exactly a question with enough data for a conclusive answer but for my diabetic friends. Ive been out of strips for a week and not testing a whole lot...my numbers are usually high 80s to 128 ish I dont think I cross high 170s (usually 148-168) two hours after a meal. Im on metformin 500mg (starting dose...never stepped up in 2 years...changed diet but am not really being good just finally eating normal and sensible at this point...still overdo it occassionally. Ive lost 170 pounds in those (almost) 2 years. Ive not taken my pm dose of metformin in 2 weeks...(Im thinking half a pill AM/PM is the next trial) I take my morning dose every day with breakfast. I can still feel when my sugar is higher...but it never breaks 170 hardly...maybe 189 is Im really bad (which would have been being good two years ago!-lol) or 44-60 min after a meal (spike) I had sushi for dinner last night...diet coke and no dessert (figured all the rice and sauces was pushing it enough) So I woke up and remembered we got strips 4 days ago-lol. Havent eaten anything yet...85. so would you start cutting the morning dose in half and see what happens? Or go to a probably more reasonable half dose am/pm and see what happens. Ill be getting a bloodworkup/a1c pretty soon but its been running low 5s which it was never below 4.9-5.1 before I was diabetic. I needs to start watching my BP again its been 120/80-ish...Ive been on Lisinopril 25mg...for the last 6-7 years...so I think I need to start stepping it down...Im gonna ask if theres a half or quarter dose size. Heck I rarely take advil anymore (knees no longer hurt) I still have 70 pounds of fat to drop and 20-30 pounds of muscle mass to build...but I think Im about ready to get off of the chemistry set my diet and fat collection required! But I dont want to be reckless in how I come off it either. I have a lot of diabetic friends...so while Ill probably always watch my bloodsugar occassionally. At what point do you start thinking...Im not exactly a diabetic anymore? looking fwd to my bloodwork...for once!
