So this is still under construction but I got ahold of this old broken refrigerator, removed all of the refrigerating components and Im converting it into a shroomerator! Lol I plan to use the freezer part for colonizing jars and the fridge part for fruiting. So far Ive gutted it, cleaned it, added a thermometer with an external read-out so I can see the temp without opening the door and I re-wired the original door light so that it works on a pull switch instead of coming on when the door is open. I also made the box at the bottom with the bulbs in it which I plan to wire to a thermostat to regulate temp. Once I get my hands on one, Ill have a humidifier running on a timer and Ill run tubing through a wall to pump humid air inside and add a drip shield. And with room for 2 or 3 shelves in there Ill be able to grow several different things at the same time. Everything will be automated so it will require very little attention and because its insulated like a tauntaun the temp inside so far has stayed consistently at 70 and should be easy to manipulate as necessary. Ahhhh I cant wait to finish construction and get my first grow underway! What do yall think? Anything youd add or remove or do differently? Ive read a lot but Im still a complete noob and I dont really what Im doing so all advice is more than welcome! Oh also, when I got the fridge there was loads of black mold all over inside so I completely dismantled everything and detail cleaned each and every piece. I mean it, I bleached the living hell outta this fridge lol is there anything else I should do to make sure its sterile? Its my understanding that once the mycelium is fully colonized and settled it does a pretty good job of fighting off contaminates and rival bacteria on its own so the environment doesnt have to be 100% sterile. Is that right?
