So this morning I get a call from a friend of mine who has been trying to help this couple for the last few months. They are in their 30s and he is around 80. Seems they are homeless and he has been supporting them and now that well has run dry. So he calls me and asks if I can help, to which I said I would check into shelters and food banks here on the shore. My phone number was given without my approval but so be it. The girl calls me no less than a half dozen times to my voice mail in less than a hour wanting to know when I was going to help them. Since I was hunting I texted her back and said I would be working on it tonight. 30 secs later I get another voice mail that I let my nephew listen to when we came out of the woods because I wasnt sure I was hearing right. The message was, we need $256 today! Blank said you would help and we need this amount right now to cover our Enterprise rental car. Need for you to get right back to me. At this point I did text her back, Sorry, Honey, you got the wrong number. This is just unreal. Just think of how well off as a Nation we are when our homeless can run around in rental cars. Again...I shake my head ruefully...
