So this time I really DO mean to start a fight. ;) (Just kidding actually - but I as an outsider looking in I really wonder...) Whence came this notion of rule by consensus/unanimity? If I knew more about him, Id perhaps wonder less if the EP isnt the canniest politician in the Church (possibly after Pope Francis.) By drawing attention to Nicaea, he reminds me that the Nicene Creed passed the Council NOT by consensus but by the barest of majorities. If consensus had ever been the accepted way of getting things done, I fear the Church would have vanished before the ink was dry on the Acts of the Apostles.
