So this weekend I was in Pittsburgh for a family wedding. I am so - TopicsExpress

So this weekend I was in Pittsburgh for a family wedding. I am so glad I went, and I had a wonderful time. My non-stop flight to home to STL was scheduled for 6:00 PM last evening. It was then delayed till 8:40 PM... Then 9:40 PM... Then 10:16 PM... Then just DELAYED. Then at 11:00 PM CANCELLED. *Sigh!* Hey, it is what it is. I would not have wanted to be on a plane the pilot deemed unsafe. The airline put me up at the DoubleTree in Coreopolis, PA, and I finally got to sleep at about 1:30. I think I mustve gotten through one full REM-Stage 4 sleep cycle because I woke up at 3:10 AM, just 5 minutes before my alarm was set to go off. The shuttle took me to the airport where my 5:15 AM flight to Charlotte was right on time, as was my 7:35 AM flight from Charlotte to St. Louis. We even got in 10 minutes early at 8:35 so I was only 15 minutes late to clinic at 9:00 AM. A colleague covered for me, and by the time I got here none of the patients had arrived anyway. I am working with a resident today, and shes in seeing a patient while I have some coffee and carbs to get revved up for the day. So this is not how I wanted today - or yesterday for that matter - to go. Still, I did have a lot of time at the airport to get on the WiFi and work on projects that I procrastinate on at home, and now theyre done. This mornings flight was quite beautiful (I really dont sleep much on planes) and included a spectacular view of downtown St. Louis. (See my new Cover Photo.) Finally, while I was waiting at the airport on the delay, I got an unexpected and very moving phone call from a friend whom I have not spoken to in years. If my flight had been on time, the call would have gone to voicemail. Im sure we still would have connected eventually, but it was quite sacred to see this long lost name come up on my caller ID and to be able to be fully present in the moment. So, am I saying that Everything happened as it was meant to happen? I dont know. I dont know that God/the Universe/the Force plans that far in advance or would even want to. I guess what I am saying is that life is an improv, and the healthiest response, whatever happens, is to say, Yes &...
