So today is my birthday. It is also the day that we celebrate - TopicsExpress

So today is my birthday. It is also the day that we celebrate Bagel coming to live with me. I found her outside the Bagel & Bagel that I managed in the snow and ice. She looked miserable, missing fur, clearly starving with her bones showing through her lacking coat. I can still remember the point that I knew she was going to be mine. The guy from animal control had to come and pull her out of my car where she had crawled to get warm. He left her sitting in that noose-thing that they use to catch wild animals. She was slowly strangling and she peed all down the front of the guy while we talked. I could see in his face that she would never have a chance and I took her right there. For the first year, I only knew she was in my house because the food vanished and the litter box was getting used. It took almost 5 years for her to sit on the couch with me for any length of time. Now, 18 years later, she is my shadow. She sits on the couch with me and watches tv, she comforts me when I am upset, she keeps me warm when I am sick. When I travel, my mom says she sits in the window at 5pm looking for me. Truly my baby. I have had many kitties come and go during our 18 years, but she is still my baby girl and so spoiled she really thinks she is the center of the world. At her old age, she needs some assistance getting around. But that doesnt stop me from sharing my turkey (or a marshmallow from my bowl of Lucky Charms). Sorry for the babble - I just wanted to share our story and how much I really appreciate finding somewhere that loves the black kitty as much as I do. ~Abby
