So today my faith in mankind and the human race has been - TopicsExpress

So today my faith in mankind and the human race has been restored....if for only a day or that brief moment that tells me we can create a society that cares for each and everyone. A community that believes in the creation of a generous society in which no one gets left behind. The story is all to familiar. Little boy has bike stolen, after just getting a new one. His mom contacted me this morning. So hearing the news I sent out a facebook message and within 3 hours several hundreds of dollars offered, no less then five bikes on offer and complimentary bike helmet....overwhelming to say the least. I was so happy to speak to mom later to tell her the good news. Islanders generosity never disappoints me....ever! So here is my challenge or question of the day....because I am troubled. If individuals can rally so quickly and help a perfect stranger how can we(Island) allow our communities to have families live in poverty, have the worst food security in the country, one in four children living in poverty, the highest rates of obesity, 50% literacy rates....how do we create a more inclusive, equitable and fair society?? I want to know?
