So... today was the play day. Ive played with some digital stuff. Had an idea sometime ago, about doing some kind of theremine but using some ultrasonic distance sensors and a microcontroller. Well, today was the day. The hardware platform was an Arduino Uno, with a ultrasonic distance sensor, a USB MIDI interface ... and good ol C language (i do like Arduino programming language but i find it to be to slow for the purpose). How it works: - the sensor reads the distance to my hand - the distance is transformed in MIDI notes (for the moment) - then the distance is equally distribute in the interval 0-127 (the maximum MIDI interval) - the notes are transmitted to the USB MIDI interface and then in a DAW (this time was Reaper with some freeware VSTi synth module) And the result is this...
