So tonight I went back to the doctor because I was feeling way worse today, and Im almost done with that third antibiotic, which Ive been told is as strong as they get outpatient. Im still sounding pretty bad. She did another chest xray (this was my 4th) and she compared it to the older one...said it looked decent. She also repeated my CBC. My white count, despite IV Zithromax on Thursday and the Avelox, had actually gone up, while my steroids have gone down. The Atrovent is barely touching the cough. To summarize: Ive had Levaquin, Zithromax (oral and IV), Avelox, Macrobid (for UTI), 3 rounds of Prednisone, 2 steroid shots, Advair, Pulmocort, Albuterol, Xopenex, Atrovent, Tessalon Perle, and my rescue inhaler since Aug. 23. Tonight, I added a shot of Rocephin to the ever growing list. She went ahead and diagnosed me with pneumonia, but told me if Im not better in the morning, then I need to head to the hospital and theyd call to tell them to admit me and do cultures. Clearly, whatever the heck this is, is not responding to what weve tried, and weve tried a lot. Really need to get better in the next week. The good news was the Pertussis was negative, which is a huge relief. Still...beginning to wonder if Im ever going to be able to breathe again without feeling like I have a ton of bricks on my chest.
