So we are in the process of signing on the dotted line for the purchase of another Manor, while getting ready for the sale of the existing residence. I think that, if today is any indication, there is very little chance that both the D(y)uke and Duchess will both be moving in to the new place, because one of us isn’t going to make it… The Duchess has been trying to orchestrate communications among the realtor, lawyers, banks and building inspectors… all (she notes immodestly) while trying to do the job she is compensated for on a daily basis. However, this, in itself, is not my peeve. But, for the love of God, you would think that the D(y)uke – during the course of his meanderings around town playing one flooring contractor off against the other, and then gleefully giving the business to a third – could turn on his ever-loving CELLPHONE! So we lost the opportunity to reschedule the building inspection and couldn’t get an appointment arranged with the lawyer, all because – for HOURS - the D(y)uke was “unavailable – please try again later”. His response when he finally called after listening to all six of the increasingly venomous voicemail messages left for him at the Manor by the Duchess …? “Well, you know I don’t usually turn the damn thing on – how many calls do I usually get in a day?” “Well …dear…. HOW MANY TIMES in a day DO WE BUY AND SELL A *@#$! MANOR??!!
