So, we did it.... today we began a campaign offering our VIP wedding photography services at 50% off through the end of June. Thats a huge deal with savings starting at $1350! Why? Is it the economy? Business slacking? No, wish it were that simple. Lets just sling it out there (despite the wailing of souls from our consultants begging otherwise). Fotowerks sure isnt the new kid on the block. Weve been around a while and weve seen it all come and go. Trend this - cute that... etc. The one thing that ALWAYS works is fun, romantic and classically elegant photography. Never fails, always a market for it and its what we excel at. Period, end of story. Weve also gone to great lengths in educating our segment of the market that, despite their passions, striving, want to and promises - theres just no way in the world a part time, weekend warrior, soccer-mom, bff, shooter, with a day job or supporting spouse is ever going to roll up their sleeves and make it happen for a client like a full time business helping to feed 7 families like ours can. We understand that those photographers may just love weddings and their cameras - but if that alone worked, everyone could do this. We also know that the market is flooded with these wannabees and that, sadly, with no proper support from wedding magazines and the like, there is now a generation of brides out there who fail to budget for a real professional photographer. So while the part time wedding shooters are making their discount price pocket money, scads of brides are left holding the bag with a disk (bleh) of poorly shot and edited garbage as the historical remains of the day they worked so hard to pull together because they sadly believed that the discount price and expectations were the norm. That wont do. You see, we run a business. A full time 24/7 photography business (a pretty darn good one too!!). Our brides paid a good bit more than the bff with a camera - cheapo price. Because they wanted a real company that would be there for them. Someone who doesnt disappear with their work. Who can raise the roof with their lab is something goes wrong. A company with insurance and bonding. A company that vanguards their image and personal reputation through copyright lawyers. A company with contracts that guarantees that well be there and perform. A company that has published and sold books on Amazon. A company that provides lessons and training material to those wanting to learn photography. A company with over a decade of innovation in, not only our business, but the industry itself. You see, while we cost more than the bargain shooter - its important to realize that at their expertise and experience, were not too expensive.... THEY ARE! Now, back to the 50% off campaign. Weve had another sad, crying bride, who didnt hire us, call up begging (at any price) for us to please try and fix her ruined wedding photos that her discount shooter train wrecked. Again, the answer is that we legally cant touch them. Even if we could, the money it would cost for the hours and hours of editing makes it cost prohibitive. Even sadder, she could have hired us to begin with and saved a chunk. At the end of the day - her wedding memories for her and her future generations, are ruined.
