So we have these three tomato plants that seem to be suffering from curly leaf syndrome. The plants dwarf the fruit and it does not look healthy. It’s surrounded by totally healthy plants that are doing well and we have no idea why this happened. Join Foodscape.Tips to get daily tips about gardening. We try o make one video a day to connect you with your food. foodscape.tips So after observing the plant behavior for a long time we decided to just pull it out. The plant next to it needs more support so we are going to use the cage from the bad plant and support even more tomato growth. Next year I plan to build a trellis support 10 feet high that runs all along the tomato row. Then we can tie up the vining branches as they grow. In the right conditions tomato plants can continue to grow for a long time and get very large. We remove the tomato plant to make sure that it doe snot infect other plants as well. This appears to be some kind of virus. I am thankful it did not spread to the neighboring plants. Although, for a while in the midst of hot and dry June weather all of our tomato plants had curly leaves. It was hard to tell if they would make it. It was also hard to tell the failed plants from the ones that would become healthy producers. As Dori says, make sure you try not to touch the healthy plants with this diseased one just in case it is something could spread to other plants.
