So, went to Plough & Stars in Philly. Had a great, somewhat bittersweet, time at roundtable of ex-Jurassic Journalists. Wonderful to be youngest, by far, at table. Reunited with Ken Shuttleworth, Renee Winkler, Jerry Etter, met others I knew only by bylines, learned my main mentor Bill Naulty, former Bulletin ace, had passed away. (In fact, asked Renee how husband Jack was; she said hed died shortly before Bill. :( ) Funny, when introduced to tablemates one codger said Kevin Riordan? No, says Ken, McElroy, not Riordan. Codger persists: A Micks a Mick, whats the REAL difference between you? I laughed and said Kevin Riordan and I have writing skills in common, but were different in many ways. For example, hes younger, better looking and (wait for it) ... has a job! The would-be baiter faded back into the woodwork ...
