So...where to start? I am so blessed to have so many friends and family members who have sent love and support my way. I have been diagnosed with ITP (an autoimmune disease) and Splenic Marginal Zone Lymphoma. The lymphoma is a diagnosis by exclusion, it has not yet reached my bone marrow (which would mean stage 4); so the only way to diagnos would be to biopsy the spleen which could cause it to rupture. I had an appendectomy a year ago and the surgeon told me my spleen was enlarged. I had some blood tests done and my counts were low; so one year, 3 bone marrow biopsies, 2 CT scans, and countless blood tests later, this is my diagnosis. I feel fine other than the pressure under my rib cage from my giant spleen and a little fatigue. I ran my first marathon this year and I still run and go to the gym. I am starting chemo next Wednesday December 11. This is a low-grade, slow-growing lymphoma so the Chemo is pretty tolerable as far as chemo goes! I will be on a high dose of prednisone for 5 days before treatment. My Dr told me that it will make me not very nice! Heehee, I have apologized to Lee in advance! Anyway, I will keep yall posted!
