So while this thing started as a frustrated joke, prompted of course by Maurice K. Ampaw - Drs butchering of the law every time he opens his mouth, I decided today to search on the internet how/ if Maurice got his PHD. I spent a whole day on this. Turns out Maxwell Opoku-agyemang was right. He was honoured with a honorary doctorate by the Pan African Clergy Council. While on the one hand I am relieved, for reasons of academic integrity, that this gentleman does not impugn genuine PHD holders, I am incensed that he is walking about touting himself as something he is not. In fact, not only is the Pan African Clergy Council not accredited in Ghana, it does not even have a website. It is running on a virus-infested webpage which was last updated in 2009. Same year the webpage was created for free. Yet the Council claims to offer a doctoral program. Whats more, the Chairman & Chancellor of the Council, one Dr. Godwin Pongo Davids, claims on the page that he obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Ghana’s and attended the University of Ghana School of Law, but left for the USA where he returned with a Doctor of Divinity ( DD), Delaware. 1.Since I do not know any one who attended the University of Ghana School of Law 2. Since, I know a lot of people have gone to Delaware and back to Ghana yet did not get a Doctor of Divinity. I refuse to draw any conclusions at this stage but I intend to investigate this issue much further. Watch this space ........
