So you report that your phone is having problems. You get this response back from them Thank you for your recent e-mail to Cox regarding Technical Support. I understand you are having issues with the Phone Service. I am glad to assist you. Frequently, customers have found that they can resolve the issue immediately by unplugging their equipment for about 10 minutes to force the system to reset. To try this, unplug all telephones, fax and answering machines, modems, and Caller ID displays from the phone outlet at the wall for 10 minutes. If you then plug a single telephone in at the end of this time and get dial tone, your service has reset. Thank you again for contacting us via e-mail. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Sincerely, I write them back that I have unplugged stuff to no avail. I even did a dance in front of the cable box, calling for the cable Gods to fix it but nothing happened. I then shook my head and wondered what kind of idiot they think I am and the answer is Someone who has cable as their telephone system type idiot.
