Social media has me stuck in a circle of self disgust and a hopeless outlook for my own generation. It has become a highway for negativity amongst my peers. We badmouth, degrade, damage, and publicly spite others with no thought for the image it paints of us, or the image it paints of our generation. Are we to be known as the ignorantly judgmental, and blindly superficial group we are portraying ourselves as, for ever? Weve had the baby boomers in the 30s and 40s, the hippies of the 50s and 60s, the activists of the 70s, the hair of the 80s :), and then us 90s kids..... What are we doing? Social media is ruining our country and our people. Instead of using it to connect with my sister Brittany Craft who lives half the length of the country away from me, or my best friend Tyler-Wayne McCoy whos dedication to schooling ,and his future, keep us from tying one off on the weekends like we used to, we use it to spark petty disputes and degrade those we should support and enlighten. Not all is lost though. Hope lies in those like my friend Cole Hatcher, who uses FACEBOOK to spread the beauty of his artwork to any and all who will appreciate it. Or in my mother Tracy Keller, who is never shy to express how proud she is of any of her three children for any accomplishment, regardless the prestige entitled. Get back to loving people! Get back to helping! Get back to hope. We cant be the generation that destroys this nation. Be it financially or on merit of integrity. Its time to step up. Reflect a little.
