Social media plays a huge role in society today, with 1 in 4 individuals reporting social networking site use. On average, Americans spend 7.6 hours a month using social media, but how is this use impacting our health? Researchers have found that individuals who are most anxious and socially insecure are the most likely to use social networking sites. This can lead to feelings of further isolation and anxiety when individuals see the idealized versions of selves that most individuals place on social media.
