Socks for Sisters is MOVING ON UP-read below!!! I would LOVE to have a chapter in each part of the country in areas where each of my pink sisters live by the end of the year-West Coast is covered once I get commitment from my CA people, so we need East Coast, South, and Mid-West!!! For all of you visiting this page, thank you for your support of Socks for Sisters! They say that five years marks the time one becomes a cancer survivor. Well, I call BULLSHIT! The moment the words You have cancer, are heard is the moment in which one becomes, in mind, body, and heart…a SURVIVOR. I can not believe that May 1st marked 2 1/2 years of fighting ongoing battles that have allowed me to win the war! The blessings that have been bestowed upon me are extraordinary in number and capacity. I believe that a little angel, named Bonnie Rotker Acker, for whom Socks for Sisters was founded, was popping a bottle of champagne with me yesterday on my half-way cancerversary. Yesterday was a day of dreams for Socks for Sisters! I had a post-op. appt. with my surgeon (#7 and final surgery) and told him about SFS and asked if he could introduce the project to his wealthy doctor friends : ) He said, Of course, what do you need, socks or money? I said, From my friends-socks, from your friends-money! He also asked if he could keep socks on hand for his breast cancer patients who are undergoing reconstruction! Thank you Dr. Robert Jensen of Medford, Oregon! We then dropped by the local body shop as my husband had a surprise for me…no, not a car! He was talking to the owners and they kindly asked Hows the wife? He told them about Socks for Sisters! The Shady Cove Body Shop asked if they could donate the proceeds from their annual car show in June to SFS AND asked me to have a booth there to spread the word. Friends, family, STUDENTS-for every day that I am living, enjoying the small things that are REALLY big things, and paying it back in this ugly world of cancer: I am indeed in awe of the gift that has AGAIN been given me-the gift of life. As ALWAYS, thank you for your love, support, and prayers. Carpe Diem! (Look below, so exciting!!!)
