Solar power cost Rs60,000 Crores to supply power to farmers - TopicsExpress

Solar power cost Rs60,000 Crores to supply power to farmers (Telangana.sevak): Let us calculate these figures: 1. Center gives 1500 pump sets a year, and TS has 20 laks pump sets. How many years it will take to complete 20 lakhs - 20,00,000 / 1500 = 1333.3 years. 2. Each pump set cost 3,00,000 x 20,00,000= 60000,00,00,000 (60000 Crores) will provide power for 20 years. These pump sets are not connected to Grid, and excess power produced go wasted. Farmer is responsible for repairs. 3. Private companies are willing to provide power for 30,000/year for each bore. For 20 years: 30,000x20,00,000x20= 120000,00,00,000(120000 Crores). If more people ask for more pump sets, it will cost more. 4. Government can call venders to produce 5 MW per Mandal(we have 445 Mandals), and pay Rs 7 per watt. The initial cost for Government is zero and they only pay for the current supplied. Farmers can draw electricity from Grid, and the distribution losses are less, because most of it consumed locally. The total cost to Government: 445x7x50,00,000x365(days)x20(years)= 113697.5 Crores). Only 50 percent of this power used by farmers and the rest of the power could be shared by Industry and City folks who are paying much more than that. Also the supplied current is 3-phase, people can start industry in rural areas which is not possible now. Many new entrepreneurs could come from Telangana region and build these 5 MW Solar plants. Now let every one think which is the best way to go forward.
