Some Liberians will make this comment sometimes, Charles Taylor government was better than Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Government Really? This was our topic in our forum yesterday. let me be clear, EJS Government has been a disappointment thus far for the following reasons. No Light, No Water, No Good Health Care, No Good Schools, Corruption with impunity, etc. However, it is absurd to say Charles Taylor government was better than EJS government. Did Taylor have a Functional Government that was recognize World Wide? This is vital for a Third World country like Liberia. Why is it many Liberians did not travel back home during the Taylor government to do business and build houses, as compare to the EJS government? Did Taylor government have security for its citizen? Did Taylor government have Press Freedom? Could any ordinary Liberian citizen drive a car from Monrovia to Nimba, or Lofa without being harassed by Gun men? The most important thing anybody need from their government is security and freedom of movement. Taylor government was a Social Club in my opinion. Taylor problem was this, Mr Taylor never transformed from a Rebel Leader to a president. Taylor had the opportunity to be a great and well like president. He never took advantage of that. I personally will take corruption any day, as compare to corruption and gangsterism. Lastly, this is the only thing I admire about Mr Taylor during his presidency, Mr Taylor negotiated a better Oil deal for the Liberian people as compare to the present EJS government.
