Some days 9/11 seems like yesterday and other days its seems like a lifetime ago. It is a day that will forever be remembered and a day that many will grieve. I remember running around on September 10th getting all my luggage and what not ready as I prepared to travel to a Software Convention for work. We were scheduled to head into Boston and prepare on our journey. Very early that morning we changed our flights from Boston to T.F Green due to some delays on our end - little did I know that change would be a life saver. As we departed from TF Green, it was just another day. Soon into our flight the pilot came on and asked us to get into an emergency landing mode but not to be worried there was nothing mechanically wrong with the plane. So as we made an emergency landing in St. Louis we could see planes coming in from ever direction - it seemed like pure chaos but we had no info as to why. After about a half hour or so on the tarmac we were told we could now turn on our electronic devices. It seemed everyone was making calls to say I am running late and it was very odd that so many phone lines were busy. Then I remember that one person on the plane who got a hold of a person on the other end shouting out to all on the plane - the world has been hit by terrorists. Honestly I dont think it really sunk in because we had no access to the news to see the horror taking place. I remember finally getting off the plane and seeing the news and just crying - I was overwhelmed by feelings and needed to be home with family. We stayed 2 nights in St. Louis before we were able to find a 1 way car rental and took to the roads. That drive home was the longest, most eerie drive Ive ever been on...American Flags everywhere, no planes in the skies and a country that remained somber. Here we are 13 years later and I cant help but ask at times.... What happened to the America that united as one and remained grateful for life? Life is precious and I believe each and every one of us is here today for a reason - so find that reason and make a commitment to be grateful for the simple things in life. Be grateful you are here today and value each day as a new journey
