Some days, when you are at the end of your rope having the junior high school PE climbing skills of an 88 pound weakling, you snap. You raise your voice at those you love in a reaction to something benign or irritating. Sometimes the words are harsh. Sometimes they are just puerile. Like tonight… Me: Cooper, stop that! Get away from your sister! Far away … like New Mexico Cooper: I don’t have a passport! That priceless response from my son made me wonder if he is a brilliant smart aleck or maybe I need to consider geography tutoring. It definitely lightened my mood and defused the situation so I am leaning toward wisenheimer. I suppose it really is all about perspective when you have a conversation, interpret a situation, or read people in general. Your filter engages and you create a story in your mind. Your point of view, your particular attitude toward something is based on your attitude. I want to think I am a positive person with an unrealistic optimism bias. So, I am lucky to be grounded by a brash, impudent saucebox. Me: Oh, Cooper …Things could be worse Cooper: You’re right; zombies could be attacking but look at us now watching “Alvin and the Chipmunks”. Well, maybe the zombies would be better. Perspective is everything.
