Some good tips from the Indiana State Police to help you keep safe this summer. When you attend large events this summer with lots of people and lots of vehicles in parking lots, make sure you plan ahead. -Lock your vehicle and secure all valuables out of sight. -Charge cell phones and have important numbers at hand. -Have a designated meeting place and time if you get separated from others in your group. ... -IF you get separated and have trouble finding your meeting spot, find a uniformed police officer, fire personnel, or security guard/usher to assist you. -Make sure kids have your phone number and name on them with a tag or card they can show police. -Arrive early to avoid a late rush to get into an event. -Stay hydrated on warm or humid days. -Use sunscreen to prevent a burn. -Keep an eye on safety, report suspicious activity and unattended items to public safety or security officals. Planning ahead will prevent a bad day. Think safety and common sense. Safe is smart.
