Heres a brief overview: On the Cat Animal Shelter Addition: 1. Rowan Animal Clinic is part of the change that will be happening at the animal shelter. 2. Dr. Lowes hope is to provide contracted veterinary services for both dogs and cats 3. Make recommendations for protocols. Make sure that we have a high standard of care but we continue to keep up with the industry standard. 4. Low-cost S/N clinic that can be cost effective and achieve goal of not letting animals out of the shelter without being S/N 5. Vaccinations, micro-chipping is integrated into the cost of low-cost S/N 6. Expect to have a detailed plan with numbers and logistics by August 18th meeting 7. If Rowan County does a good job with the cat addition, the donor said she would do the same for the dog side. -------------------- On volunteers: Mr. Sides suggested paying volunteers as part-time employees so it guarantees they will show up. We want volunteers, and need volunteers however we need people who will actually show up and be there. If anyone has a list of real volunteers who will show up consistently, please provide it. Having volunteers as paid employees reduces the liability issue. -------------------- Commissioners voted 5-0 in favor of the proposal and will be providing a contract to the donor to review.
