Some heavy thoughts on my mind: For those of you who know my son Daniel, we are needing to think seriously about his high school education and if we need to make a radical change. Daniel is pretty set on a career in music, likely composition, with a minor in violin. His high school curriculum is typical--4 honors courses, some with a fair amount of homework. We assume the work will get heavier in future years. He is needing to ramp up his practicing (piano and violin) and spend more time on musical composition if he is able to get into a top music school. This, of course, is in addition to all the regular school requirements and none of his school day can be devoted to any challenging musical study. So we are thinking that perhaps he needs to consider home schooling or cyber schooling so that he can still take all the academic classes he needs and pursue his music as he should. Thoughts from my musical friends? Homeschooling friends?
