Some hours ago i pleaded that i needed help to complete an ecommerce job that will be due in 5 days. Someone was asking me where i got that kind of job from in this Nigeria.... Even saying that it is not possible for that kind of fee. Heha ...I laugh in Kanuri U see, Thats the small mentality i am talking about. Now lets c it this way, This guy has already made up his mind that such jobs dont exist in Nigeria. Now tell me how this guy will succeed online with this kind of mentality. The truth is that i once had dat kind of mentality about 4years ago, then i never believed someone could pay me more than 30k for a website design job and it really hindered me in this business. I had to wake up one day and decided that i needed a change (Not the type of change APC is clamouring for o. Lol!) and i started writing proposals. @ first i wrote two website design proposals and submitted one to a church and one to a school and both where turned down. I didnt give. I re-strategised. This time around. I wrote 10 @ a stretch and submitted to 7 different secondary schools and 3 churches and guess what, 4 were accepted. Now that is what i call strategy and only God knows how much i was paid for those four jobs. Ever since den i have never looked back and i set a bench mark. As for the eCommerce job i just sourced out to someone. Well my client happens to be a business man who is based in owerri, imo state and shuttles btw Dubai and Nigeria to import Baby wears and accessories. I simply met him after one of my students introduced me to him and i told him about the importance of having a website to sell his wears online. @ 1st he was skeptical and did not give me a listening ear mayb because i was just using word of mouth. Now here is what i did, I told him i would come back some other time and we fixed an appointment. In my second coming i arrived with my Laptop, Internet connection and a copy of my proposal. After showing him jumia and kongas website and explaining to him how they operate, he had no option than to pick interest and i left him with a copy of my proposal. Guess What!!!!!!!!! 3 days later he called me and said he is interested. I told him my charge and he bargained and i had to land @ 150k. (not my initial charge) That is how this particular offer came about. Now, I believe the guy that asked me that question still does not know what a proposal is and the power of having one. Mr Timothy Anietie is using it Mr Dennis Isong is using it Mr John Greatman Oyedu is using it. Ever wondered why all these people are successful in their line of business. So what am i trying to say, Its simple! website design is part of online business and just like my two bosses once said.
