Some information that may be useful about bed bugs: These tiny insects bite people while they sleep painlessly due the injection of a natural anesthetic (numbing agent) and anticoagulant (stops blood flow) into the bite. The insects are wingless, between 1mm to 7mm and they usually live within two and half meters (8 feet) from where people would sleep. The bites are indistinguishable from those of other bugs and depend more on the reactive tendencies of the victim. So one may see nothing through to a large itchy red knob or a water-filled bag on a red base. To confirm if there are bed bugs look in the ribbed seams of mattresses, sofas, suitcases and other bedding to find discarded exoskeletons (outer shells of the bugs) from molting bugs. Bed bugs do not transmit any infectious disease, however they cause much discomfort and itching and may cause scarring in allergic people. Bite that have already occurred should be treated with a local antihistamine cream and emollients (moisturizers) to minimize itching. To get rid of them one needs to call in a professional service to administer sprayed insecticides.
