Some insight into how little, at times, I notice of my surroundings: Ive had my Mac laptop for three years. During an effort to organize my tool bar of unused icons, I noticed the icon for PhotoBooth. Another of several icons Apple includes on computer toolbars as standard. Again, its a bright red square that has been sitting there since I bought the computer. I clicked on that bright red icon for the first time a moment ago. Well, wow… Thats a neat app. From a tiny camera on the screen, PhotoBooth takes a picture (with flash) toward whoever is on the computers keyboard. It then displays the pics. From a choice of three settings, It can also take a succession of four pictures in a row OR by setting the timer, record a video. I should probably start going to those free classes Apple offers on all things concerning Mac. Compared to others Ive seen operating their computers, I tend to think my knowledge of keyboard shortcuts is decent. But in reality its lacking. I learn a new one on occasion. Learning the shortcuts can seem daunting. More so considering last week a new friend, whos previous job was working for Apple in their genius bar, said he just recently discovered another time-saving shortcut. Ive always thought of those genius bar employees as being quite different -- embodying super-power brains implanted with silicon logic circuits. Geez….. if theyre still learning shortcuts……… Joking aside, I can tell you learning shortcuts will speed your productivity greatly. An engineer that helped with the edits on our 2004 CD was proficient at shortcuts while using the Pro-Tools Recording system. His familiarity with shortcuts reduced our studio time saving us a lot of money. Keyboard shortcuts keep one from having to move the position of their hands for mouse use or curser placement etc.
