Some kids just can’t stop at one cookie, or even four. They’ll - TopicsExpress

Some kids just can’t stop at one cookie, or even four. They’ll often eat more food than they actually want to, especially when they’re anxious or sad. In fact, loss of control (LOC) eating is the most common disordered eating behavior in overweight kids, even pre-adolescents. What causes this early loss of control over food? Why are eating disorders on the rise among even younger children? Have we sent mixed messages about what “healthy” really means? How can we find a balance between setting boundaries and examples for children while empowering them to take charge and make good choices? Join our next #GreatChallenges live event, moderated by Claire Mysko, with special guests including a clinician, child psychologists, a community health outreach specialist and others as we explore the complex environments our kids navigate each day and tools to help keep them healthy without taking it too far. Have questions for the team? Post the below and we will answer them live on air on Tuesday and they will be available for you at YouTube/tedmed. https://plus.google/u/0/b/101965276929158390601/events/ceh5t77v0uhv06mpat00952stq8
