Some more oldies but goodies from the first Venceremos Brigade in Cuba, 1969. 1---The Vietnamese fighters and students ate together at the long dining hall tables. A Norteamericano burns his draft card (?). Anyone know his name? 2---An American brigadista in the cane fields. Strong and determined. Wearing safety goggles and gloves. His name? 3---A brigade meeting in the rec hall. Thatched roof, benches, simultaneous translations, lots of cigarette smoking. Julie Nichamin on the right. The others? 4---A classroom in Santiago. 5---During a break, two brigadistas shoot the shit. We slept in tents, with rows of double decker beds made of iron concrete reinforcement rods and composition boards or plywood. No mattresses. Too short for 63 me. We had outdoor cold water showers, and rows of outdoor concrete sinks. The toilets were holes in the floor.
